The 9th graders (pointing at the new tiles) were the last class to get their room. No finish work (plaster, electricty, windows or door), but usable none the less. The construction crew hits the classrooms (empty of students) in the afternoons to get the finish work done.Just in time...well, almost!
The 2008 school year started off with a bang and a bunch of noisey, excited Jr. High students. Only half of the roof was in place for the 4 classes to meet, so 7th and 9th grades met in temporary classrooms while the last of the tiles were being put into place.
Each tile was special ordered...cut to a specific size and assembled in sequence.
The tiles are fairly light weight, but because of their size it was a challege for 7 guys to get them lifted up on top of the trusses. (Each tile was 8 X 1 meters.)
The shaded porch area just outside the classrooms.
What a relief to finally get that done. It's a LONG ways up there...7 meters (22 feet)!
